Global supply chain disruptions affect north Peoria fire station

City pulls $517,000 from reserves

North Peoria residents are on the path to receive fire service improvements, but the upgrades have come with delays and extra cost because of global supply chain disruptions and other issues.

Fire Station No. 5, located near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Pinnacle Peak Road, is set to begin a renovation and expansion project in the coming months. But city staff had to ask for approval of $517,000 in reserves because of cost increases to pay for the $2.6 million project.

Experts say costly supply chain disruptions and other related issues aren’t expected to end soon, and higher costs will continue to trickle down to Peoria and other Arizona cities.
