Glendale will learn options to pay for $70M downtown renovation

Upcoming workshop to reveal funding options

The Glendale City Council was sold last month on a potential $70 million renovation of the downtown campus. Next up will be to see if they’re sold on where the money will come from to pay for it.

At the afternoon workshop at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, inside Council Chambers, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., Assistant City Manager Vicki Rios and Budget and Finance Director Lisette Camacho will present funding options for the City Hall Complex/Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project.

Just before Christmas, council came to a consensus to move forward on funding the project that calls for major renovations to City Hall, the adjoining amphitheater and parking garage, Council Chambers, and Murphy Park. Glendale City Hall was built in 1984.
