Glendale will discuss national opioid settlement funds coming to the city

Workshop to look at both accepting, declining allocated funds

Glendale will look at how the nationwide opioid settlement funds may – or may not – include a payout of $2.2 million to the city.

This past November, three of the largest U.S. pharmacy chains reached settlements with states worth a total of about $13 billion over the toll of opioids. Under the separate deals, CVS Health and Walgreen Co. are each paying about $5 billion, and Walmart is paying more than $3 billion, the Associated Press reports. None has admitted wrongdoing.

In August 2021, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that 90 cities and towns and all 15 counties signed on to a framework called the One Arizona Memorandum of Understanding to distribute funds across the state from national opioid settlements.
