The Giving Machine, the “vending machine” that works in reverse by giving users an opportunity to donate a variety of much-needed items for local and global charities, will appear this holiday season in Glendale.

The West Valley machine will be located at the Westgate Entertainment District, at 6770 N. Sunrise Blvd., from Friday, Nov. 17 through Thursday, Nov. 30.

The #LightTheWorld Giving Machines started in 2017 and have raised more than $22 million in worldwide donations for local and global charities. Arizonans have donated more than $3.5 million to local and global charities through the Giving Machines.

This year’s effort will include more than 50 locations around the world.

Local nonprofit beneficiaries from the Glendale location this year include Agua Fria Food and Clothing, A New Leaf, New Life Center, Catholic Charities, Welcome to America Project, Mentors International and WaterAid.

Visitors can make donations by purchasing items ranging in price from $5 to $250 and include staples such as clothing and hygiene items, meals and school supplies to livestock and life-saving medicine.

Donations can also be made at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist/light-the-world/giving-machines for residents unable to visit the machines in person. One hundred percent of all donations go directly to participating charities.
