Beyond the upcoming day of awareness, the city of Glendale’s Dementia Friendly action team has a free, monthly program series called Memory Café, which takes place on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Drive.
This event allows people living with Dementia and their care partners to participate in social engagement and make meaningful connections with others in the community.
“We are so happy to partner with Banner Sun Health Research Institute, to bring dementia friendly programs to the city of Glendale,” Jeannie Grates, Cogir Management USA Inc. community business development director, shared in a statement. “Monthly gatherings lead to assistance for both those who live with this disease, as well as their caretakers.”
During the Memory Café caregivers have the chance to participate in an educational or a support session. Those currently experiencing memory loss will have the opportunity to participate in a cognitive engagement program.
