Glendale to examine ways to make roadways safer

2-year study would come up with recommendations

The past two years have seen 67 fatal car crashes in Glendale, and the city’s transportation department is looking for ways to improve safety on local roadways.

The city council at its Tuesday night meeting will consider a $100,000 contract agreement with Greenlight Traffic Engineering, LLC to identify traffic and transportation safety studies. With a two-year agreement through 2025, the project would provide crash analysis and come up with potential ways to mitigate some accidents.

In 2022 (with data through October) there were 4,737 reported crashes in Glendale, with 28 being fatal. In 2021, there were 5,510 total crashes, with 39 fatalities, according to the city’s transportation department.
