Glendale teen starts nonprofit, takes fight to SIDS

Family history adds gravity to story

On July 23 Kenna Wasson’s nonprofit Candles in the Dark took a major step.

The North Glendale resident’s organization focused on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome prevention and safe sleep for infants provided free safe infant sleep sacks to Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s campuses, including the one in Glendale. The sacks include a pamphlet on her organization and the golden rules of safe sleep.

Kenna Wasson is a 14-year-old about to start her sophomore year at BASIS Peoria.
