Glendale teacher honored for CTE program’s community service

Mountain Ridge High School’s Heidi Moya has led her students’ book, clothing drives

Sometimes future teachers can learn as much about students outside the classroom as in, and one Deer Valley Unified School District program is making that happen.

Mountain Ridge High School English teacher and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisor Heidi Moya earned the Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona Teacher Community Service Award of the Year for the 2023-24 school year.

The award honors those who demonstrate leadership in programs and activities that promote student involvement in community service, specifically in a way that integrates community service in their CTE Program.
