Glendale surpasses 32K COVID cases

State has administered half-million vaccination doses, but appointments booked through February

Arizona has surpassed 500,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccination administered, with the vaccine distribution pace increasing since a 24-7 site opened in Glendale earlier this month.

The Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) on Jan. 27 announced the half-million milestone. State Farm Stadium, 1 Cardinals Drive, in Glendale, continues to serve as a state-run vaccination site, soon to be joined by a new site at Phoenix Municipal Stadium on Monday, Feb. 1.

“The State Farm Stadium vaccination site is an amazing success,” AZDHS director Dr. Cara Christ stated in a news release. “It is a best-practice model that’s attracted the attention not just of other states but the Federal Emergency Management Agency. With additional vaccine, we can add more appointments and get more vaccine into the arms of prioritized Arizonans.”
