Glendale student saves life of campus staff member

Diego Garcia commended by city for quick actions

As a social worker at Glendale High School for more than a decade, Danet Garcia has spent her career helping students get through some of the most difficult and traumatic situations.

When the time came that she was the one in need of help, one of her students stepped up -- and saved her life in the process.

Ms. Garcia was on campus at 6216 W. Glendale Ave., on the night of Nov. 2 when she walked toward her car to go home for the evening around 6 p.m. That’s when she found herself in distress.
