Glendale spends nearly $500K on safety at Kirk memorial

The city of Glendale spent almost $500,000 on public safety and operational elements of the Charlie Kirk memorial service Sept. 21 in State Farm Stadium.

Deputy City Manager Rick St. John stated the city spent that amount on fire personnel, ambulance costs, transportation personnel, barricade costs, police resources and personnel. The event filled the stadium and an overflow crowd went into nearby .

The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, which owns State Farm Stadium, and ASM Global, a venue management company for the  for Desert Diamond Arena, will reimburse the city. Glendale officials did not express concern about not receiving the payment as of yet.
