Glendale Salvation Army accepting school supplies, heat relief items

Posted

The Salvation Army Glendale Corps Community Center is hosting donation drives for school supplies and for bottled water and heat-relief items.

School supplies in need include backpacks, notebooks, markers, pencils, pens, tissues, binders, pencil pouches, highlighters, and erasers. Salvation Army volunteers will fill donated backpacks with donated school supplies and distribute them to local children in need.

Donations are welcome through Monday, July 31.

Struggling families tend to focus limited finances on food and other essentials, and this drive is designed to fill the gaps and provide children with the resources needed for a solid start to the school year.

Cases of 16.9-ounce bottles of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, umbrellas, and lip balm are needed to bring relief to those battling extreme heat this summer. Summer clothing, including shorts and T-shirts, are also welcome. Heat relief donations accepted through Thursday, Aug. 31.

Donations can be brought to The Salvation Army Glendale Corps Community Center, at 6010 W. Northern Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Monetary donations are also accepted onsite or online at Glendale-AZ.SalvationArmy.org.
