Glendale residents decry potential Velma Teague move

City will discuss library options at workshop

If the city of Glendale intended to send up a trial balloon in the last month about potentially moving the Velma Teague Branch Library's location, the overwhelming sentiment or residents responding to the idea is to shoot it down.

Glendale led a community meeting at the downtown library on Sept. 19 and the residents that went were surprised to find three options for the library's future on the agenda alongside results from a recent survey.

Since that night, the overwhelming community sentiment  has been in opposition to demolishing the current building. Six residents spoke against changing the location at the Oct. 8 City Council meeting, and more figure to be there during the Velma Teague library design study update during the Tuesday, Oct. 22 council workshop.
