A GoFundMe for a man killed in a Glendale shooting has raised more than $14,000.
Jose Luis Ayala-Garcia, 51, was killed Friday night near 63rd and Glendale avenues.
Glendale police said they responded to reports of a shooting in the area, one of two shootings near Glendale Avenue that night.
Officers arrived and found Mr. Ayala-Garcia, his 19-year-old son, and Robert Mahoney, 58, of Scottsdale, with gunshot wounds.
Mr. Ayala-Garcia and Mr. Mahoney were pronounced dead. The 19-year-old is expected to recover.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from a former business relationship between the two older adults. Police believe Mr. Mahoney shot Mr. Ayala-Garcia and his son before turning the gun on himself.
“I am at a loss for words,” GoFundMe organizer Mabis Ayala stated. “The Ayala/Garcia family has lost a great hard working father, a loving husband, the most amazing uncle a niece could ask for and a loyal brother.”
Mr. Ayala-Garcia leaves behind a wife, two sons and a daughter, according to the GoFundMe.
Glendale police continue to investigate.
An unrelated shooting occurred around 7:15 a.m. Friday near 47th and Maryland avenues. Two men, ages 18 and 26, were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspects from this incident are still outstanding.
