Glendale police investigated two shootings over the weekend in which one of the suspects was shot and transported to a hospital, according to a report.

On April 15 at about 7:30 a.m., Glendale Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 6000 block of W. Glendale Ave. Upon arrival they discovered an altercation occurred and one of the parties involved was shot. However, the person had left before police arrived.

Officials reached out to local hospitals to report any arriving gunshot victims. During the investigation, the injured person arrived at a hospital with critical injuries. Police recovered the weapon at the scene.

Officers learned the victim was stabbed and returned gunfire, striking one of the suspects.

Police arrested one suspect, while another is in the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Officials will release names once the suspect in the hospital is released and booked.

Earlier in the morning, at about 1:20 a.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a business plaza near 6500 W. Bethany Home Road.

Officers learned there a verbal argument started between two groups of people in the parking lot. At least one person pulled out a gun and fired 15 to 20 shots, hitting a 20-year-old man four times and a 21-year-old man once, according to a report.

Medical personnel transported the first victim to the hospital with serious injuries but will survive, the report stated. The second victim arrived at a local hospital shortly after the shooting and was treated for non-life threatening injury.

The incidents occurred within 2 miles of each other.
