A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be conducting an on-site (virtual) assessment of the Glendale Police Department beginning on Monday, April 4.
This examination will include an assessment of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. It’s part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of professional excellence in the field of law enforcement.
The goal of the assessment is to demonstrate that the Glendale Police Department is in compliance with the nationally accepted professional standards CALEA establishes. GPD was first accredited in 2000, and the department’s accredited status was reaffirmed in the years 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018.
