Glendale plans $731M budget built to retain staff

Glendale’s budget focus for next year is on maintaining the city’s current workforce, City Manager Patrick Banger said March 30, and the first budget plan of his tenure reflects that.

City finance staff have proposed a total operating budget of $731 million, breaking down to a general fund of $341 million, enterprise funds of $146 million, internal service funds of $126 million and special revenue funds of $87 million.

The proposal recommends a 3% cost of living adjustment for non-represented employees, as well as up to 2% in merit-based increases. The city also intends to make compensation and classification market study adjustments.
