Glendale planning commission hears 5 cases Thursday

Glendale Planning Commission will hold a public hearing 6 p.m., Aug. 3 in the Glendale Council Chambers Building, 5850 W. Glendale Ave.

Agenda items include Glendale Planning Commission’s request to amend the land use designation from Business Park to Entertainment Mixed Use on approximately 16.1 acres, located at the northeast corner of 99th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The Planning Commission also wants  to rezone the acreage to allow for  a mixed-land use development, which may include such land uses as hotels, retail, childcare center, indoor and/or outdoor recreation facilities.

The property is in the Yucca District. Staff contact is Tabitha Perry, assistant planning director.

Also, K-Hovnanian Homes wants to amend the general plan and rezone approximately 8.22 acres of vacant land on the north side of Grandview Road at 73rd Avenue  in the Sahuaro District.  The request would allow for a single-residence, planned residential development.

K-Hovnanian Homes also is asking for a Preliminary Plat approval for Cadence at Park Paseo consisting of 50 single-family residential lots at a density of 6.08 DU/AC on approximately 8.22 acres of vacant land. Staff contact is Planning Director Jon Froke.

And, Planning Commission wants to rezone  from agricultural to suburban residence approximately 17.5 acres of land located south of Northern Avenue on the west side of 83rd Avenue. The property consists of vacant land and custom homes on existing residential lots and is in the Yucca District.

Finally, James Kennelly, representing James and Rebecca Kennelly, is requesting  to rezone from agricultural to suburban residence an approximately 1 acre site located south of the southwest corner of 53rd Avenue and Escuda Road. The site is in the Cholla District and staff contact is Senior Planner Thomas Ritz.
