Glendale pilot program continues trend toward electric vehicles

APS will install 2 new charging stations downtown

It may be only two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of a pilot program, but the city of Glendale’s recent agreement with APS is another indication that EVs are coming down the road.

The City Council on Jan. 26 voted unanimously to join with APS for a Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Pilot Program agreement, which will allow for the installation of two charging stations to be located at the Glendale Municipal Office Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. The charging stations and costs for installation are provided free to the city, which will be responsible for paying for the electricity used by the stations via a dedicated meter.

The pilot program is for five years following installation of the chargers.
