Glendale pastor responds to Kirk murder

Posted

Dear Parishioners,

As you all should know by now, today Charlie Kirk was brutally murdered at one of his public events in front of thousands of college students.

Charlie was able to engage the youth in our country like no one I can recall and got them politically engaged.  He had spirited debates with many people who didn't agree with him.  I found him to always be respectful of those who disagreed with him.

His positions were almost entirely in harmony with Catholic teaching.  He was a faithful Christian man who left behind his wife and two small children at the age of 31.

If you have children who are twenty something, they may be particularly affected by this terrible act.  Please reach out to them and talk to them as they are likely very afraid and angry.

Pray for the Kirk family tonight and pray for the repose of Charlie's soul.

Editor's note: Fr. John is pastor at St. Thomas More,
6180 W. Utopia Glendale. He sent this letter to his church members electronically.
