Glendale park looks to get new life from Guaranteed Rate Bowl turf

City council will take up potential donation

Keep an eye on the football turf at this December’s Guaranteed Rate Bowl. The field itself may find new life after the game at a Glendale park.

Each year Fiesta Bowl Charities recycles the Guaranteed Rate Bowl field from Chase Field in Phoenix and donates it to a select nonprofit, community, or school in the state. The donation includes 80,000 square feet of turf, plus a custom Fiesta Bowl electronic scoreboard.

On the list to receive the turf after this winter’s game is O’Neil Park, at 6448 W. Missouri Ave., in Glendale.
