Glendale park christens donated bowl game football turf

O’Neil Park officially cuts the ribbon on new play space

The last time anyone ran on the turf now at O’Neil Park in Glendale it was Wisconsin and Oklahoma State grinding it out in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl this past December.

On Wednesday, kids from the Boys & Girls Club were laughing and goofing around on it.

Fiesta Bowl Charities donated the game-used sod from the college bowl game in Chase Field to O’Neil Park as part of a complete refurbishment of the 62-year-old park.
