Glendale may crack down on homes with year-round holiday lights

Council to consider city code for compliance

Glendale residents who leave their outdoor holiday decorations up year-round take note: the city may start clamping down.

At its workshop at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 at the Civic Center, 5750 W. Glenn Drive, the City Council will hear a request to consider adding language to the city code to regulate the amount of time holiday decorations during any given season are displayed.

The discussion began at a December meeting of the City Code Review Council Committee where Deputy City Manager Rick St. John said the committee was looking into adapting a similar code the City of Peoria uses for holiday decorations. Glendale does not currently have a code or ordinance regulating the display of holiday decorations.
