Glendale man claims Mayor threatened violence during alleged incident

Unconfirmed fracas took place at Gila River Arena after UFC fight

A man who claims to be an employee with Gila River Arena in Glendale says Mayor Jerry Weiers allegedly instigated an altercation with him at the facility’s parking garage, and the man further challenged the mayor to a boxing match.

The claims came during the public comments portion of the June 22 City Council meeting.

Identifying himself as Robert Nejbauer Jr. and as a resident of the city’s Ocotillo District, the man claims the incident took place after the June 12 UFC Fight Night event had ended at the arena and traffic was exiting the parking garage, where he says he works as an attendant.
