Glendale license plate cameras aid in arrest of suspected car thieves

A camera system in Glendale designed to target license plates helped to led to the arrest to two suspected car thieves.

Glendale officers received an alert on Aug 28 that a stolen vehicle had been detected in the area. Police pursued the suspects, later identified as Elijah Parker and Rachel Arnick, in a chase that ended with a car crash with two vehicles.

“Marked units attempted to stop the vehicle, at which time the vehicle fled from police. Undercover units began surveilling the vehicle, which dropped off a passenger. Upon leaving that location, the suspect vehicle crashed into an unmarked patrol unit and later into a secondary vehicle, which was a citizen,” GPD said in a press release.
