Glendale gas leak temporarily evacuates neighborhood, school

An afternoon gas leak in a Glendale neighborhood caused one school to evacuate Tuesday.

Glendale police and fire crews responded to a leak near the area of Landmark School at 5730 W. Myrtle Ave., near Historic Downtown Glendale, and evacuated nearby Grace Lutheran School, 5600 W. Palmaire Ave. Landmark remained in session.

The leak was caused by a bulk trash front loader hitting the line and severing it, according to Glendale Fire captain and public information officer Ashley Losch.
