The Glendale City Council is leaning toward adopting a goal regarding traffic accidents and fatalities that may not be achievable until far in the future, mostly because officials say they believe the aspiration is better than half measures.
City staff presented a first draft of the Vision Zero and Safety Action plans statement during the Feb. 10 council workshop, with information that was garnered following a vision and goal setting meeting Nov. 13, 2025.
The goal is to have zero fatalities or serious injuries from vehicle crashes in the city by 2050. With so many visitors on city streets and modern driving distractions, it sounds unrealistic to some.
