Deer Valley and Mountain Ridge badminton just finished a two-year cycle with most of their varsity players and both are pleased with the results.
The Mountain Lions leapt from a 7-7 record in 2022 to 11-3 and a No. 3 seed in the Division I tournament, while Deer Valley maintained a 9-4 record against a brutal schedule and challenged top three teams in Division II much more before getting the No. 9 seed. Mountain Ridge will host Chandler, and Deer Valley will travel to Tempe Marcos de Niza Monday.
These Glendale schools also enjoyed their second year together, with Deer Valley returning five varsity players from 2022 and Mountain Ridge bringing back three. Both are strong in the fourth, fifth and sixth singles spots.
