Things can only get better in 2023 for Deer Valley football, but before the pads come on the Skyhawks’ level of improvement is hard to gauge.
In many cases, a coaching staff would not be thrilled to bring back most of its starters from an 0-10 team. But coach Dan Friedman and his staff have seen the growth of this group, and believe many players pushed into major varsity roles a year early are now capable of holding their own.
Plus the way returning seniors and juniors prepared for this season suggests more mature leadership that will handle adversity better.
