Special to Independent Newsmedia
The Glendale-based Anasazi Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution helped honor those who serve on Veterans Day.
Members attended the Surprise Veterans Day Parade along with other DAR chapters, where they handed out flags and patriotic beads to children and thank-you cards to veterans along the route.
Anasazi members also donated an outdoor locking parcel box to the VFW Sandy Coor Post 1433, located at 7618 N. 63rd Ave., in Glendale, for their use to collect flags that are due for disposal due to wear. The VFW Post plans to place the box on the outside of their building to allow people to drive through and leave flags to be properly retired.
The Anasazi Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is based in Glendale and meets on the third Saturday of every month from September through May.
