Glendale COVID cases rise as Maricopa County reports 1st Omicron variant

City shows 11.3% jump in 5 weeks; 2 DVUSD campuses each show 16 active cases

In the midst of the holiday season, active COVID cases within Glendale’s nine most populous ZIP codes are up 11.3% over the past five and a half weeks.

That’s according to data released Monday, Dec. 13, by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The biggest jump seen since the Glendale Independent tracked the numbers on Nov. 2 comes in the 85304 ZIP, which jumped up 13.8% since that first week of November. Also Monday, the Maricopa County Department of Public Health has identified the county’s first COVID-19 cases involving the Omicron variant in six individuals.
