The Glendale City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday night to appeal the Maricopa County Superior Court ruling voiding the removal of Lupe Conchas from his Cactus District seat and returning him to the dais.
And it was the same four — Mayor Jerry Weiers and Councilmembers Ray Malnar, Lauren Tolmachoff and Dianna Guzman — that voted for Conchas’ removal May 28. As with that morning, Bart Turner, Leandro Baldenegro and Conchas voted against the appeal in this case.
Turner asked for an explanation on the city’s recommended position on Conchas v. Glendale during the voting meeting June 23. The council and attorneys discussed the matter in executive session following a workshop that afternoon.
