The Glendale City Council ousted one of its own members Thursday morning, the result of the majority’s decision on Councilmember Lupe Conchas being elected to another board in the Valley.
Two days after it received legal advice about a conflict of interest between Conchas receiving a form of compensation for his service on the Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District board, a four-member majority voted for his removal from office.
This decision also came two days after a contentious council comment section Tuesday night about Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office investigating Glendale’s council stipend and car allowance policy, where Conchas reiterated his opposition to the stipend.
