Glendale Community College lauds SB 1453 signing

New legislation will allow junior colleges, including GCC, to offer four-year baccalaureate degrees

Gov. Doug Ducey on May 4 signed Senate Bill 1453, which allows community colleges to offer four-year baccalaureate degrees.

The legislation will align Arizona with 23 other states, including all neighboring states, to allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees in limited circumstances.

“We are exceedingly thankful to the Arizona Legislature and Governor Ducey for their support and belief in our ability to meet the needs of our community,” Glendale Community College president Dr. Terry Leyba Ruiz said of the measure. “We look forward to offering targeted and specific baccalaureate degrees in areas that will most benefit our students.”
