The annual Glendale Christmas parade didn’t have to look far to find its roots.
Prior to the current incarnation of the Hometown Christmas Parade, which will celebrate its ninth year starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 downtown, there was a different sort of effort going on. A then-downtown parade had moved away from a Christmas theme, and instead featured a display of municipal-type vehicles — from first responder vehicles to sanitation trucks — all representing the city.
There was definitely something missing.
