The Glendale Chamber at its monthly networking breakfast in October will host a presentation from the Chamber’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
The program entitled “Inclusive Language: Sometimes it IS What You Say” starts at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at The Ocotillo Room, 5819 W. Glendale Ave.
Lynda Vescio of Vescio Law Firm, P.C., and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee chair, will moderate a panel of several committee members that will provide a learning opportunity on the bias in the English language – not to shame, not to attack, but to recognize how people have been conditioned and to do better, according to a press release.
Panelists include Dr. L. Alexander Patrick, Glendale Community College; Michele Boggs, Blue Cross Blue Shield Arizona; Lisa Baker, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty; Maria Brunner, Credit Union West; and Dr. Jennifer Cruz, Pendergast Elementary School District.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is focused on assisting employers grow their talent pool through the implementation of diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace. The committee also works on educating employers, businesses and local community leaders on the benefits of diversity, equity and inclusion and assists them in implementing policies and practices to attract, maintain, and increase business, talent and partnerships.
