The days of brand name big box stores moving into replace an open big box space in Glendale’s Bell Road corridor are near their end.
Take the strip malls on three of four corners surrounding the intersection of 59th Avenue and Bell. Niche businesses with a particular need for more space are gaining a foothold in the area.
In 2014, EJ’s Auction & Appraisal moved into its current location at 5880 W. Bell Road, half of a former Home Depot store. EJ’s spent most of 2013 in another, smaller storefront in Glendale Market Square — now the site of White Dove Thrift Shoppe — while having to keep many of its potential auction items in trucks.
