Glendale bargaining with police, fire over COVID stipends

Negotiations are ongoing

The city of Glendale is in negotiations with both its police and fire departments over providing additional stipends for each public safety agency with regards to COVID.

Both agencies have battled COVID among its members while maintaining their workforces. Councilmember Jamie Aldama at the city’s Jan. 11 workshop stated that, in total, approximately 140 members out of 234 city firefighters, or 60%, have contracted COVID at various times during the pandemic.
