Gilbert wrestles with how to complete coming victims advocacy center

A victims advocacy center remains the Gilbert Police Department’s highest priority project, but the town needs to identify funding for nearly half of the $85 million project.

The town has about $43 million set aside for the center, more than enough to complete Phase 1 of the project, for which construction is anticipated to start next fall. That will bring a 26,266-square-foot building to the public safety complex on Civic Center Drive.

That building will house investigations, advocacy and counseling services for victims.
