The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America named Clarice Nguyen of Gilbert the second-place winner in its national 2023 Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship Essay Contest.
Nguyen, who is a freshman at Arizona State University, won $2,500 for her essay about her grandmother and her grandmother’s long-time friend, both of whom are living with dementia, according to a release.
“Clarice’s inspirational essay about her grandmother and her grandmother’s friend, and the impact that they had on her life is a prime example of how dementia-related illnesses affect people of all ages,” said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., president and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
“Clarice’s efforts to make a difference for others is truly inspiring.”
