Gilbert taking applications for Student Government Day

 Student Government Day takes high school students behind the scenes of local government and connects them with community leaders.

Applications are now open for the next Gilbert Student Government Day, happening on Tuesday, Feb. 13. 

As part of this all-day event, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee will welcome 55 high school students to learn more about how Gilbert operates.

Participants will shadow Gilbert employees and explore the many career opportunities available across departments. They will also take part in a mock council meeting, share their thoughts on issues facing youth in Gilbert, and provide their feedback on Gilbert initiatives. 

Those students who are interested can submit an applications now through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.. 19.

Applicants must be high school students who live in or attend a high school in Gilbert. High school students who are home schooled in Gilbert are also invited to apply. 

All participants will get a school excuse provided by Mayor Brigette Peterson.
