Gilbert puts state's first electric fire truck into service

The newest pumper truck in the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department’s fleet looks like any other of the department’s pumpers — but it sounds nothing like them. 

In fact, it sounds like nothing at all. 

That is because that pumper is an electric fire truck and runs silently. The truck was put into service at the department’s Station No. 2 in a “push-in ceremony” Friday, the first electric fire truck put into service in Arizona and only the third in the nation.
