Gilbert proposes $2.55B budget amid revenue losses

Gilbert officials are proposing a $2.55 billion budget for fiscal year 2027, an increase of about $93 million — or roughly 3.8% — from the current year, even as the town grapples with a $20 million loss in ongoing revenue.

The proposed spending plan reflects a balancing act between maintaining core services and limiting new investments amid financial pressures largely outside the town’s control.

“The budget for the town of Gilbert is not just one big pot of money that’s unrestricted,” Budget Director Kelly Pfost said. “When we say that we’re balancing the budget, we’re not just balancing one budget, we’re balancing several dozen budgets.”
