Gilbert police make another arrest in assault, robbery case

Posted

Gilbert police have submitted charges on a second defendant in connection with an assault and robbery case from September 2023, officials said.

Gilbert police submitted charges of aggravated robbery on 20-year-old Jacob Pennington, who is in the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, officials said.

The incident is believed to have occurred in a parking lot near the 2500 Block of South Market Street. Video evidence on this incident was obtained by Gilbert police in late January.

Earlier this week, Gilbert police arrested, processed, and submitted a juvenile referral on a 17-year-old juvenile on aggravated robbery, assault, and disorderly conduct charges to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.

Pennington also has been arrested in connection with two other cases tied to the teen violence in town.

Police continue to urge anybody who has any information or has been a victim of incidents of this nature to please report it by calling 480-503-6500 or through the online tip portal, glbrt.is/GPDSubmitATip.
