Gilbert police awarded state safety grants

The Gilbert Police Department has been awarded Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety grant funds, which provide the department with funding for increased enforcement and training for its traffic unit.

The additional funds for federal fiscal year 2024 allow officers to spend extra time, outside of their already dedicated hours, to focus on the areas of DUI enforcement, pedestrian and bicycle enforcement, selective traffic enforcement, and training for accident investigations.

These grants have been crucial in giving Gilbert residents extra enforcement, education, training, and attention, according to police.
