Gilbert is searching for a new parks and recreation director after Robert Carmona resigned last week.
Carmona submitted his letter of resignation Sept. 3, simultaneously indicating he was giving 30 days' notice but writing that it was effective immediately. However, he stated that he would be available in the next month and possibly beyond to support the transition.
Allyna Bay, assistant to the town manager, will serve as the interim director for the department as the town prepares to conduct a nationwide search for its next director, according to the town.
