Gilbert mayor cleared again on complaint stemming from ejections

An independent investigator recommended Mayor Brigette Peterson be cleared on an ethics complaint related to her removal of three residents from a Gilbert Town Council meeting in September 2022.

Council likely will consider the complaint at its next meeting, Nov. 14.

Investigator Kenneth Fields found there was no objective evidence that residents Ryan Handelsman and/or Brandon Ryff were targeted by the mayor for different treatment because of their exercise of their constitutional right of freedom of speech.
