Gilbert district reviews override, bond spending

Gilbert Public Schools officials presented an update on how the district has used money from its maintenance and operations override and its voter-approved bonds, highlighting new investments in buses, security fencing and campus improvements.

Associate Superintendent Bonnie Betz told the Governing Board on Oct. 14 the district’s override generated just more than $36 million during the 2025 school year.

“The 2025 school year was the last year associated with that 2019 approval,” she said, referring to the override first approved in 2019 and renewed by voters in 2024.
