East Valley district charts cautious path for bring in classroom AI

Gilbert Public Schools is laying careful groundwork for incorporating artificial intelligence into classrooms, district officials said. 

That begins with a structured pilot program and comprehensive training for teachers, all while emphasizing transparency, safety and community input. 

A team of administrators from curriculum and technology — including Chief Technology Officer Jon Castelhano, Instructional Technology Coordinator Shawn Abele and PreK-12 Advanced Learning Coordinator Brent Gardner — outlined the district’s current AI strategies and future ambitions.
