Gilbert council continues Target zoning case to May

Town seeking revisions and neighborhood input

Gilbert Town Council has again delayed a decision on a proposed Target-anchored shopping center, voting to continue the zoning case to May 19 to allow additional work on the project and further input from nearby residents.

The case involves a request to rezone about 16 acres at the southeast corner of Higley and Ocotillo roads to allow for a large-format retail anchor exceeding current size limits, including a roughly 128,000-square-foot Target store.

Council members unanimous approved the continuance during their April 21 meeting following earlier debate and extensive public feedback on the proposal.
